The love of wood and trees was fostered at a very young age by his father. After serving an apprenticeship in the Royal Navy as a Shipwright, he joined the Fleet and served in repair ships and facilities. The love of wood and the craft never left and upon moving to Cornwall took up woodturning and is now an approved tutor by the AWGB.
Along with turning his own individual pieces he demonstrates and gives talks to the local community on Woodturning history and Trees of the Southwest. He is very active in the local Club which is now a charity, the Bodmin and District Woodturners. The Club gives opportunities to youngsters to try the craft at special days through out the year.
